It is the responsibility of Government to provide basic data, information, and analyses regarding the forest resources on Crown land. Poor or inadequate data has a high potential to result in costly resource stewardship decisions which commonly devalue resource values and create high negative impacts.
Forest resource inventory and research programs are priority areas for data and analyses critical to knowing what is available in the local/regional forest. These areas are the basis for communities when developing their vision and strategy to move toward community resiliency. Socio-economic, adaptive management, and cumulative effects data and analyses associated with proposed uses of local/regional forest resources should also be a priority to assist each community.
